Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Alice’s Adventure begins;

The adventures of Alice in Wonderland was published on the 4th of  July, 1865.

The story was a result of a trip up the River Thames that was taken by the good Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson. He and a Reverend friend Robinson Ductworth were rowing up the River Thames with 3 little girls that were between the ages of 8 and 13.

The Beginning by the Reverend Dodgson;

To help pass the time, the Reverend Dodgson told a story about a little girl that was bored and looking for adventure. When he finished with the story the girls were thrilled and one of them asked if he would write the story out and give it to her.

He soon finished the story and almost double it in size with additional adventures. He had a friend do the illustrations for the book and had it published.

The original printing was of 2,000 books but the print quality was so poor the books were all destroyed except for 23 copies. These copies are still available but 18 are in libraries or private archives while the remaining 5 are in private hands.

The Book is Printed

After the new print was made and the book made available to the public, it sold out almost immediately. The story was liked by children and adults alike and has remained a favorite throughout time.
